David Škara began his basketball journey in Zadar, where he played for the Dalmatian club’s youth teams. He then moved to the United States, where he played college basketball for the Valparaiso Beacons in Indiana and the Clemson Tigers in South Carolina. Ahead of the 2019/20 season, he returned to Europe and first joined Spanish side Huesca before moving to France.

In France’s second division, he played for Denain, Nancy and Champagne Basket, while in the 2021/22 season he also competed in the French top flight with ESSM Le Portel. Ahead of the 2024/25 season, he joined Split and averaged 12.5 points, 5.8 rebounds and 1.7 assists across 29 AdmiralBet ABA League appearances in his debut season. He finished as the regional competition’s 14th-best rebounder and was Split’s second-highest-rated player behind Shannon Shorter. Škara was also named the MVP of the Croatian Cup Final Tournament, where he finished as the leading scorer and helped Split win the trophy for the first time since 2004.

Škara joined Cedevita Olimpija ahead of the 2025/26 season and won the Slovenian Super Cup, the Spar Cup and the Slovenian national championship in his first campaign in Ljubljana. With Škara on the roster, the Dragons also reached the quarter-finals of both the BKT EuroCup and the AdmiralBet ABA League. He appeared in 20 EuroCup games, averaging 8.6 points, 4.2 rebounds and 0.6 assists, while contributing 8.9 points, 4.0 rebounds and 1.1 assists across 24 regional-league appearances. His best scoring performance in the ABA League came against Igokea m:tel, when he recorded 19 points and eight rebounds. He also made an important contribution during the quarter-final series against Crvena zvezda Meridianbet.

With his versatility, experience, energy and fighting spirit, Škara will remain an important part of Cedevita Olimpija’s roster at the power forward position in the 2026/27 season. He also remained part of the Croatian senior men’s national team in 2026, representing his country in the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2027 Qualifiers.
