Thomas Kennedy studied at the University of Windsor in Canada, where he impressed with outstanding performances over four seasons. In his final season, 2022/23, he earned the title of Most Valuable Player in the U SPORTS organization, the Canadian university equivalent of the NCAA in the United States. That season, he averaged 20.3 points and 13.8 rebounds per game.

Kennedy also played in the Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL), which runs annually from May to August. In the summer of 2022, playing for the Fraser Valley Bandits, he averaged 14.5 points and 8.3 rebounds per game and was named CEBL U SPORTS Player of the Year. In the summer of 2023, he joined the Scarborough Shooting Stars, where he averaged 9.9 points and 8.7 rebounds per game.

Before the 2023/24 season, Kennedy left his home environment and moved to Germany, signing with Telekom Bonn. Over two seasons, he gained valuable experience in both the German national championship and the Basketball Champions League. In the 2023/24 Champions League season, he appeared in 12 games, averaging 9.9 points and 4.9 rebounds.

In the 2024/25 Champions League season, he played eight games, averaging 10.1 points and an impressive 9.0 rebounds per game, which ranked him first on the Bonn roster by efficiency index. In the German league, he appeared in 33 games that season, contributing 10.5 points, 7.0 rebounds, and 1.8 assists per game. He served as team captain and was one of the top rebounders in both the Champions League and the domestic competition.

Kennedy has also worn the jersey of the Canadian senior national team in three different competitions – at the 2022 AmeriCup, during the FIBA Americas Qualifiers for the 2023 World Cup, and most recently in the qualifiers for AmeriCup 2025. In the most recent qualification cycle, he played six games and averaged 9.0 points and 5.3 rebounds per game.
