Miha Cerkvenik began his basketball journey at Peter Vilfan’s Basketball School and joined Cedevita Olimpija (then Union Olimpija) in the youth categories, first wearing the Dragons’ jersey in the U12 category. He grew up as a player in Stožice, competing in all youth levels, and got his first taste of senior basketball in the 2018/19 season with the second senior team of then-Petrol Olimpija. In the 2019/20 season, he played in the 3rd Slovenian League (3. SKL), and in the 2020/21 season, as a loaned Cedevita Olimpija player, he competed with Ilirija in the 2nd Slovenian League (2. SKL). He debuted in the 1st Slovenian League (1. SKL) with Ilirija in the 2021/22 season, before moving to Krka Novo Mesto ahead of the 2022/23 season.

In the 1. SKL, Cerkvenik recorded his best stats with Krka in the 2023/24 season, averaging 12.3 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 1.6 assists per game. In the 2024/25 season, he averaged 11.2 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 1.1 assists per game. In the 2024/25 regional league, he was Krka’s third-leading scorer, averaging 11.9 points and 5.6 rebounds per game. His standout performance came against Cibona, where, in just over 28 minutes, he scored 22 points, grabbed eight rebounds, dished out three assists, and recorded two steals.

Miha, who will turn 25 in November, has recently become an occasional member of the Slovenian men’s national basketball team, playing in three EuroBasket qualification games this year and three Olympic qualification games. In the EuroBasket qualifiers, he averaged 6.0 points and 1.3 rebounds per game, while in the Olympic qualifiers, he averaged 2.8 points and 2.0 rebounds per game.
