He began his professional career in 2007 with Kranj’s Triglav, and after two years with the Gorenjska team, he moved to Ljubljana, donning the Slovan jersey in 2009. He stayed at Kodeljevo for two years before transferring to Union Olimpija in 2011. His career then took him to Crvena Zvezda in Belgrade, Baskonia, Andorra, and Barcelona before returning to the Dragon’s Nest. With the exception of the 2022/23 season, which he spent with Turkish club Bahçeşehir, he has consistently played for the Ljubljana club since 2019.

In the 2020/21 season, he was selected as the regional league’s Player of the Month in November 2020. At the end of that season, Blažič was chosen for the regional league’s All-First Team and the EuroCup’s All-Second Team. He also finished the EuroCup as the top scorer of the 2020/21 season, averaging 19.1 points per game. In the 2021/22 season, Blažič was again selected for the EuroCup’s All-Second Team and the regional league’s All-First Team for the second consecutive season. In the 2023/24 season, he was named to the regional league’s All-Second Team.
In the 2024/25 season, Jaka Blažič won all three domestic titles with Cedevita Olimpija for the second consecutive season. He played in 19 EuroCup games and 25 ABA League games. In the EuroCup, he averaged 9.5 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 1.0 assist in over 21 minutes per game, while in the regional league, he recorded an average of 10.1 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 1.6 assists in 21.8 minutes per game.
