David Škara began his basketball journey in Zadar, where he played for the Dalmatian club’s youth teams before moving to the United States. There, he represented two university teams, the Valparaiso Beacons (Indiana) and the Clemson Tigers (South Carolina). Before the 2019/20 season, he returned to Europe, first playing for the Spanish team Levitec Huesca, and then, until his move to Split in 2024, competing in France.

In the French second division, he played for Denain, Nancy, and Champagne Basket, while in the 2021/22 season, he competed in the first division with ESSM Le Portel. Before the 2024/25 season, he joined Split, where he played 29 games in the AdmiralBet ABA League, averaging 12.5 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 1.7 assists per game. Škara was the 14th-best rebounder in the regional league in the past season and the second-highest-rated individual for Split, behind Shannon Shorter.

In the 2024/25 season, we also saw David in action at Tivoli Hall, where Split faced Cedevita Olimpija in the fourth round of the AdmiralBet ABA League regular season. Škara finished the game with 20 points, four rebounds, and a valuation index of 17.
