Zoran Martić

Zgodba:

Zoran Martić is an old acquaintance of the Slovenian basketball floor with experience from international circles. After a playing career in which he wore the jerseys of Celje, Šentjur and Ilirija, he became a coach at Ilirija in 1992, and between 1993 and 1997 he worked in the youth team of the then Smelt Olimpija. Between 2008 and 2010, he was the assistant head coach of the member team at the then Union Olimpija, and at the beginning of 2018 he became the head coach of the Ljubljana Dragons, with whom he also won the title of Slovenian national champion in the 2017/18 season. He said goodbye to the post of head coach of the Ljubljana club in November of the same year.

During his career, Martić also managed Slovan, Roglo, Loka Kava, Kraški Zidar, Szolnoki Olaj, Krko, Budućnost, Apoel Nicosio, Zlatorog, Helios, Khimik, Kormend, MZT Skopje, Trefl Sopot, and most recently he worked in Japan at Chiba Jets, where he had a mentorship or advisory role. With MZT, he became the Macedonian national and cup champion in the 2013/14 season.

Martić also made his mark in the history of Slovenian basketball as the selector of the Slovenian men’s national team under the age of 20, who won the title of European champion in 2000 in Ohrid. Two years before that, he won second place with the U22 European Championship in Trapani.
