In the Final of the 21st Spar Cup, Cedevita Olimpija has prevailed over Helios Suns and won its first domestic cup trophy after 2017.
Cedevita Olimpija has been the better of the two opponnets in the trophy game of the 21st edition of the Spar Cup and has become the Slovenian Cup Champion for the 2021/22 season. After 40 minutes of the game in Kodeljevo Sports Hall, the score was 80:99 in favour of the Jurica Golemac’s squad.
It’s been a game of ups and downs, where Cedevita Olimpija pulled away to the double-digit advantage quickly in the opening quarter (13:3), but Helios Suns fought back and took a one-point lead by halftime (46:45). However, the squad led by Jurica Golemac from the bench opened the second half with an 18:8 run in five minutes after the big break and secured itself a calmer remainder of the game. In the end, they have celebrated the 80:99 win.
This is the 21st Slovenian National Cup trophy for the Dragons and the first since the merger with Cedevita Zagreb.
Yogi Ferrell was the most efficient in scoring for the Ljubljana squad, as he scored 22 points, while Zoran Dragić contributed 21.
Cedevita Olimpija squad takes a 15 day break after the Spar Cup Final, due to the National Team February window. They will be back on court on 5 March, when they will face Mornar-Barsko zlato in the 21st round of the regional competition on the road in bar.
