Dragons Move Preparations to Kranjska Gora

After more than two weeks of work in Ljubljana, Cedevita Olimpija’s senior team opened a new chapter of their preparations for the 2026/27 competitive season on Thursday. The Dragons travelled to Kranjska Gora, where an intensive week of preparations awaits them, highlighted by three games – two in Slovenia and one in Italy.

Preparations for the new season are taking on an increasingly competitive character. After just over two weeks of training in Ljubljana, it was time for a change of scenery, as Cedevita Olimpija headed to Kranjska Gora on Thursday, where the team will remain until next Thursday.

The mountain air will provide the Dragons with a different setting for their continued work over the coming days, but above all, an opportunity to further develop their chemistry and test their readiness on the court. They will play three preparation games over the course of seven days.

The first is scheduled for Friday, when the Dragons will face Laško. On Sunday, they will take on Budućnost VOLI, while the week of preparations will conclude next Thursday in Italy, where they will face Udine.

Another important step forward is the fact that the team is now together in full. Head coach Zvezdan Mitrović and the players who were involved with their national teams during the latest international window joined the squad this week. The coaching staff therefore now has the entire roster at its disposal, allowing for even more focused work on developing team chemistry and establishing the desired style of play.

“During this period, I was following what was happening, and we were also in good communication with the coaching staff. We had links through which I could follow the training sessions and preparation games. I think the guys who were here during this first phase did a very good job. I see good energy, and the players are disciplined and focused,” head coach Zvezdan Mitrović said before the team’s departure for Gorenjska. “Now all of our national team players have joined us, and we are heading to Kranjska Gora, where we will continue the process we started here. There is a lot that is new. We have a new team that is quite young and, you could say, inexperienced, but it has good energy. There are still many questions about how everything will look and how the team will develop. The first impression is very positive. The guys are working well and are focused on training and on everything we ask of them.”

“We are heading to Kranjska Gora. We have quite a few new players. It is good that we are now going to a training camp, where we can build stronger connections with one another. I was only present at one training session during this period, and even then, not for the entire session. So far, all the guys have shown very good character, especially off the court. That is the most important thing to me, and then we will see how everything looks on the court,” Rok Radović said before the team’s departure for Kranjska Gora.

The Dragons now face a week of intensive work, new challenges and three opportunities to measure their progress.
