U20 EuroBasket 2026 Champion Urban Kroflič Joins Cedevita Olimpija

Cedevita Olimpija have strengthened their roster with the signing of Urban Kroflič, a 20-year-old Slovenian guard who impressed at the 2026 FIBA U20 EuroBasket on home soil this summer. As captain of the team, Kroflič was one of the key members of the gold-medal-winning Slovenian national team, which claimed the European title in Ljubljana. At the end of the tournament, he was also named to the All-Tournament Team.

Urban Kroflič captained the Slovenian U20 national team that won the European Championship on home soil at Stožice with a perfect record of seven wins. In the final, Slovenia defeated Serbia 84–65 to claim the U20 European title. The new Cedevita Olimpija player was one of the key contributors to the Slovenian side. In six games at the tournament, he averaged 14.7 points, 6.0 rebounds and 3.8 assists per game, while his average performance index rating was 18.8. These performances earned him a place on the All-Tournament Team.

Kroflič was statistically Slovenia’s most efficient player at the tournament, the team’s second-leading scorer, leading rebounder and third-leading assist provider. His performance in the quarterfinal against Türkiye was particularly impressive, as Kroflič recorded 26 points, seven rebounds and five assists to play a key role in Slovenia’s progression to the semifinals. He was subsequently forced to miss the final due to injury, while he played seven minutes in the semifinal against France before suffering the injury.

“Urban Kroflič is one of the most talented young Slovenian basketball players, and we are pleased to have brought him to Cedevita Olimpija. His performances at this year’s U20 European Championship, where he was one of Slovenia’s key players in winning the gold medal and was also named to the All-Tournament Team, confirmed his potential and character. In addition, he has recently been given an opportunity with the Slovenian senior national team, which is another indication of his progress. We believe a bright future lies ahead of Urban and that he can take the next step in his development in the environment of Cedevita Olimpija. We are delighted that he will now be part of the Dragon family,”said Cedevita Olimpija Sports Director Chechu Mulero following Kroflič’s signing.

“Urban is a young Slovenian player with a lot of potential. We are pleased to add a young player to the team who, despite his age, already has some experience playing in the ABA League. We are also pleased that he is a good person with a positive character. Now we will see how he adapts to a higher level of play and how he takes the next step in his development next season. We believe he has all the qualities needed to do so,” said Cedevita Olimpija Head Coach Zvezdan Mitrović following Kroflič’s signing.

“My first impressions are really great. After a long time, I am back home. I am very happy to be here, and a new challenge lies ahead of me. I can’t wait for the season to start, both in the EuroCup and the ABA League. That is why I am already really excited,” said Urban Kroflič following his signing with the Ljubljana club.

Kroflič has also made an important step forward at senior international level in recent months. In the 2027 FIBA Basketball World Cup Qualifiers, he made five appearances for the Slovenian senior national team, averaging 9.4 points, 2.4 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game.

The 20-year-old guard, born on 28 March 2006 in Celje, is 198 centimetres tall and plays at the guard position. Before joining Cedevita Olimpija, he represented Belgrade-based Mega Superbet, where he averaged 27.9 minutes per game in the 2025/26 ABA League season, recording 10.1 points, 4.2 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game. Urban began his basketball journey in Vojnik before moving to Spain and then to Belgrade, where he also played for OKK Beograd. He was also a member of the Slovenian U19 national team that finished third at the 2025 FIBA U19 World Cup in Lausanne, as well as the U18 national team that claimed third place at the 2024 U18 European Championship in Finland.

Kroflič joins the Dragon family following an outstanding summer in which he captained the Slovenian U20 national team to the European title while also being recognised as one of the tournament’s best individual players. In the Cedevita Olimpija jersey, he will continue his development at senior club level and make his first appearance for the reigning Slovenian national champions, who will compete in the BKT EuroCup, AdmiralBet ABA League and domestic competitions.
