Osayi Osifo joins Cedevita Olimpija

Cedevita Olimpija continues to assemble its roster for the 2026/27 season. The new member of the Dragons is 26-year-old Osayi Osifo, who arrives in Ljubljana after gaining experience in the Basketball Africa League and with the Austin Spurs. Osifo has signed a two-year contract with the Ljubljana club.

Standing 206 centimeters tall, Osayi Osifo was born on 6 April 2000 in Vereeniging, South Africa, and developed his basketball career in the United States. In the NCAA, he first played for the Florida Gators before spending two successful seasons with the Jacksonville Dolphins.

He turned professional in 2024. During the 2024/25 and 2025/26 seasons, he was a member of the San Antonio Spurs’ NBA G League affiliate, the Austin Spurs. In the 2024/25 season, he also gained experience in the Canadian CEBL, where he represented the Calgary Surge in eight games.

“Osayi Osifo is a player who brings energy, strength and a desire to improve. He is a basketball player with great defensive potential who can impact the game on both ends of the floor with his athleticism. We believe he will fit into our system and bring an additional dimension to the team,” said Cedevita Olimpija sporting director Chechu Mulero following the signing.

“He is a player who brings something different to our team. He is an undersized five, a very mobile and aggressive player who plays with a lot of energy. It was important for us to add a different type of player to the team, and at the same time, we want him to fit in well with our team through his energy, aggressiveness and style of play,” said Zmaji head coach Zvezdan Mitrović following Osifo’s addition to the roster for the new season.

“I am very happy to be joining a top organization like Cedevita Olimpija. There is a culture of winning and excellence within the club, and I want to become a part of it and contribute to it myself,” said Osayi Osifo after signing his contract with the Ljubljana club.

In the 2025/26 season, Osifo appeared in 28 games for the Austin Spurs in the NBA G League, averaging 6.0 points, 5.5 rebounds and 0.5 assists per game. He finished the competitive season in Egypt, where he played for Cairo-based Al Ahly. In the Basketball Africa League, he averaged 7.1 points, 6.4 rebounds and 1.2 assists over nine games. His excellent defensive performances also earned him a place on the competition’s All-Defensive Second Team.

He also spent this summer in the United States, competing in the NBA Summer League. Wearing the Denver Nuggets jersey, he appeared in five games, averaging 10.1 minutes, 6.8 points and 3.0 rebounds per game.
