Cedevita Olimpija played its third preseason game ahead of the 2026/27 competitive season on Friday in Kranjska Gora. The Dragons faced Laško, a team they also met last season when the two sides went head-to-head in the Slovenian National Championship Playoffs. The scoreboard at Vitranc Sports Hall showed 90:45 in favour of the reigning Slovenian champions.
The game was also significant for the Ljubljana side as Head Coach Zvezdan Mitrović took charge of the team from the sidelines for the first time during this preseason. He also had all the players who had been involved with their respective national teams at his disposal. Cameron Houindo and Urban Kroflič did not suit up for the game.
Following more than two weeks of work in Ljubljana, the preseason preparations have now entered a new chapter in Kranjska Gora, where the Dragons have excellent conditions to continue their work and build team chemistry ahead of a demanding season. Their third preseason game of the summer also brought Cedevita Olimpija its third victory, meaning the team remains unbeaten so far in the preseason.
Laško caused Cedevita Olimpija the most problems in the opening quarter. In the second, the Dragons found their rhythm and gradually began to take control of the game. They built a sizeable lead by halftime and maintained their advantage all the way to the final buzzer.
The Dragons will remain in Kranjska Gora until Thursday, with two more preseason tests awaiting them in the coming days. The first comes already on Sunday, when they will face Budućnost VOLI at Vitranc Sports Hall. Like Cedevita Olimpija, Budućnost will compete in both the EuroCup and the ABA League in the upcoming season. The Montenegrin side is also preparing for the new season in the Gorenjska region, making Sunday’s matchup another valuable preseason test as both teams continue building their form ahead of the start of competitive action.

“We’re happy with the game. Of course, this is still the preseason, so the result itself isn’t our main focus at this point. The most important thing is that we continue getting to know each other better as a team, that we develop a better feel for one another on the court, and that each player gradually finds his role within the team. That’s exactly what games like this are for – to see how each of us can best help the team and what we still need to improve. There’s still a lot of work ahead of us, but I think we’re moving in the right direction. Now we continue our preparations here in Kranjska Gora, and in two days we have another preseason game against Budućnost. It will be another good test for us and an opportunity to take another step forward.”
