Ljubljana’s Tivoli Hall will host a basketball spectacle on Friday, September 6, and Saturday, September 7, as part of the Ljubljana Sports Festival. On the Tivoli court, we will have the opportunity to watch a strong international basketball tournament featuring Cedevita Olimpija, Panathinaikos, Anadolu Efes, and Bayern Basketball.

As part of the Ljubljana Sports Festival, which will take place on September 5, 6, and 7 in Ljubljana, the basketball spectacle will unfold in Ljubljana’s Tivoli Hall on Friday, September 6, and Saturday, September 7. Competing in this strong international tournament will be the current EuroLeague champion, Panathinaikos, the EuroLeague champion from the 2021/22 season, Anadolu Efes, a two-time EuroLeague quarterfinalist, Bayern Basketball, and the current Slovenian national, cup, and supercup champions, Cedevita Olimpija.

The tournament, which is of a friendly nature as all four teams are preparing for the upcoming 2024/25 season, will be enriched with various activities near Tivoli Hall, taking place before, during, and after the games. The Ljubljana Sports Festival, which was first held in 2023, will also feature numerous workshops and activities organized by all the sports clubs operating within the Municipality of Ljubljana. Ljubljana Sports Festival

The tournament in the “Temple of Slovenian Basketball” will take place on Friday, September 6, and Saturday, September 7. Both semifinal matches will be held on Friday, while the third-place game and the final will take place on Saturday. In the first semifinal on Friday at 6:00 PM, Cedevita Olimpija will face the current EuroLeague champion, Panathinaikos. In the second semifinal at 8:30 PM, Anadolu Efes will play against Bayern Basketball. On Saturday, September 7, both placement matches will be held, with the first starting at 4:00 PM and the second at 6:30 PM.

Information for visitors: The Tivoli II parking lot will be completely closed during the tournament due to activities related to the Ljubljana Sports Festival, so parking will not be possible. The Tivoli I parking lot will be open on Friday and Saturday until spaces are filled.

DAY 1 RECAP

In the iconic Tivoli Hall, a basketball spectacle began on Friday, a tournament where Cedevita Olimpija is hosting EuroLeague teams Panathinaikos, Anadolu Efes, and Bayern Basketball as part of the Ljubljana Sports Festival. The first semifinal match between Cedevita Olimpija and the reigning EuroLeague champions went to Panathinaikos Aktor with a final score of 81:76, while the second duel between Anadolu Efes and Bayern ended with the Turkish team winning 82:77.

Cedevita Olimpija has, after winning the previous 5 games, suffered first preseason defeat. In Tivoli Sports Hall, the scoreboard has been showing the score of 76:81 in the end in favour of the visiting side from Athens.

Cedevita  Olimpija was the squad, that opened the game in a better fashion, as the Dragons have been in front by 6 points after the opening quarter (23:17), but the reigning Turkish Airlines EuroLeague champions have turned the game completely upside-down by halftime, when they have been up by a point (43:44). In the remainder of the match, the hosts did not manage to turn the game completely upside down and Panathinaikos prevailed with the score of 81:7.

For Cedevita Olimpija it has been DJ Stewart that led the way in scoring, as he had 14 points on his record. Aleksej Nikolić, Brynton Lemar and DeVante’ Jones had 11 points each.

The game between Anadolu Efes and Bayern Basketball was decided in the final minutes, despite the fact that the Turkish team held a double-digit lead in the last quarter. After the score was tied at 77:77, Anadolu Efes quickly pulled ahead to 82:77 and calmly saw the game out in the final seconds.

On Saturday at 16.00, the final match between Panathinaikos and Anadolu Efes will take place in the Temple of Slovenian Basketball. Cedevita Olimpija will face Bayern Basketball at 18.30 in the third-place game. DAY 2 RECAP

In the Temple of Slovenian basketball, the iconic Tivoli Hall, the final day of an extremely strong and attractive tournament is taking place, where Cedevita Olimpija, as part of the Ljubljana Sports Festival, is hosting Panathinaikos, Anadolu Efes, and Bayern Basketball. In the final match, the Greek team Panathinaikos defeated the Turkish team Anadolu Efes with a score of 83:72, while the Dragons suffered defeat by Bayern (66:82) and finished in the fourth place.

Cedevita Olimpija have faced Bayern Basketball in the third place game at the Tivoli Tournament and suffered a defeat, after having offered a strong resistance to the German side.

It’s been a game, where the EuroLeague side of Munich have pulled away by 7 points (18:25) in the opening quarter and never let go of their lead all until the end of the game in Tivoli Sports Hall. In the end, they have celebrated a win with the final score of 66:82.

Aleksej Nikolić was atop of the list of scorers with 10 points scored, while DJ Stewart and Devin Robinson each added 9 points. At Bayern, Oscar Da Silva and Carsen Edwards each scored 13 points, while Devin Booker added 11.

The next preparation game is coming up for Cedevita Olimpija on Saturday, 14 September, when they will be facing Pallacanestro Trieste on the road.

In the final match at Tivoli Hall, the reigning EuroLeague champion was in the lead throughout. The teams exchanged the lead only once, but Panathinaikos secured a double-digit advantage by the end of the second quarter (26:14). In the second half, Anadolu Efes slightly reduced the deficit, but the Greeks pulled ahead again in the third quarter and ultimately celebrated a victory with a score of 83:72.

For Panathinaikos, Jerian Grant scored 14 points, while Ioannis Papapetrou, Marius Grigonis, and Ntinos Mitoglou each contributed 13. For Efes, Daniel Oturu scored 18 points, and Jordan Nwora added 13.
