Cedevita Olimpija suffers first preseason defeat by Panathinaikos

Cedevita Olimpija has, after winning the previous 5 games, suffered first preseason defeat. In Tivoli Sports Hall, the scoreboard has been showing the score of 76:81 in the end in favour of the visiting side from Athens.

Cedevita Olimpija was the squad, that opened the game in a better fashion, as the Dragons have been in front by 6 points after the opening quarter (23:17), but the reigning Turkish Airlines EuroLeague champions have turned the game completely upside-down by halftime, when they have been up by a point (43:44). In the remainder of the match, the hosts did not manage to turn the game completely upside down and Panathinaikos prevailed with the score of 81:7.

For Cedevita Olimpija it has been DJ Stewart that led the way in scoring, as he had 14 points on his record. Aleksej Nikolić, Brynton Lemar and DeVante’ Jones had 11 points each.

The game between Anadolu Efes and Bayern Basketball was decided in the final minutes, despite the fact that the Turkish team held a double-digit lead in the last quarter. After the score was tied at 77:77, Anadolu Efes quickly pulled ahead to 82:77 and calmly saw the game out in the final seconds.

On Saturday at 16.00, the final match between Panathinaikos and Anadolu Efes will take place in the Temple of Slovenian Basketball. Cedevita Olimpija will face Bayern Basketball at 18.30 in the third-place game.
