Cedevita Olimpija squad has beaten Rogaška in the second game of the Semi-finals of the national championship (82:63) and earned itself a spot in the Finals of the Nova KBM League. The squad, led by head coach Jurica Golemac is now waiting for the opponent in the Final series.
Cedevita Olimpija has taken a shortcut to reach the Finals of the national championship. The Dragons of Ljubljana, that are defending the championship trophy from the 2020/21 season and are at the same time chasing their 19th domestic championship trophy, have edged out Rogaška after two games of the Semi-finals. In the second game of the series, the score has been 63:82 in favour of the Ljubljana squad.
The Dragons will get their opponents in the Finals of the domestic championship on Friday, when Helios Suns and Terme Olimia Podčetrtek will meet in decisive third game of the Semi-finals.
Despite the fact, that due to the heavy traffic on the road between Ljubljana and Rogaška Slatina, the trip has taken the Dragons longer than usual and the game started 15 minutes later, than planned, the reigning champions did not bother. They have entered the clash against the Slatina team determinedly and earned themselves a 15-point lead (43:28) by the big break. The hosts have entered the second half better, cut the gap to 6 points (50:56), but the Ljubljana machine had the answer to that. They were up 65:52 ahead of the final quarter, in which they have kept the hosts at the safe distance and celebrated a convincing win in the end.
Yogi Ferrell has topped the list of scorers in Rogaška Slatina (16). Marko Radovanović added 13 points, alongside 7 rebounds, Melvin Ejim had 11 points and 5 rebounds, while Zoran Dragić had 10 points.
The next game is coming up for the Ljubljana squad on Monday, 19.00 in the Aleksandar Nikolić Hall in Belgrade. The Dragons will meet Crvena zvezda mts in the Game 3 of the Semi-finals and try to earn themselves a spot in the Finals of another competition this season.
