On Thursday at 6 pm, the basketball players of Cedevita Olimpija will face Budućnost VOLI in the remaining match of the 18th round of the ABA League in Morača, Podgorica.

The Cedevita Olimpija member team traveled to Podgorica via Zagreb and Dubrovnik in the middle of the morning. In the Montenegrin capital, the Dragons will face Buducnost VOLI in the remaining match of the 18th round of the ABA League, thus starting a tour of Montenegro and Serbia with a clash with the 7DAYS EuroCup quarterfinalists. During the tour, the Ljubljana basketball players will face Buducnost VOLI, Mornar from Bar and Crvena zvezda mts from Belgrade in three matches.

It will be possible to watch the live television broadcast of the match with Budućnost VOLI at Arena Sport 1.

The Cedevita Olimpija basketball players have not stepped on the floor since March 23. At that time, the team of head coach Jurica Golemec beat Novo mesto’s Krka 76:63 in the Leon Štukelj Sports Hall. The match of the 23rd round of the ABA League with Cibona was postponed last week due to infections in Zmajev gnezd, and the match of the 24th round of the regional competition with Crvena zvezda, which was supposed to take place last Sunday in Stožice, was postponed due to infections in the Belgrade team. Both dates of the postponed matches are already known – Cedevita Olimpija will face Cibona in Zagreb on April 20 at 4.30 pm, and Zmaji will face Crvena zvezda mts in Ljubljana on April 18 at 5 pm.

Buducnost VOLI is clashing with Cedevita Olimpija after being knocked out of the 7DAYS EuroCup last week, and then reliably defeated Mego Soccerbet (92:79) in the ABA League. Nikola Ivanović was especially brilliant, adding 20 assists, three rebounds and two steals to 20 points. With an average of 13.9 points, 4.6 assists and 2.9 rebounds per game, Ivanović is also the most efficient basketball player of Buducnost VOLI in the ABA League.

STATEMENTS AHEAD OF THE GAME:

Jurica Golemac, head coach of Cedevita Olimpija:
“The ABA League derby is ahead of us and a very demanding match, as hosting in Podgorica is never easy. Budućnost has a great team, and the Podgorica team has a very good season. We are well prepared, and we are going on tour confidently, with the desire to surprise the locals and record a new victory. We respect Budućnost, but we are not afraid of our competitors. We are going to Podgorica ambitiously, with the desire to register two new points.”

Kendrick Perry, player of Cedevita Olimpija:
“We are aware that we have a difficult match ahead of us. We know Budućnost, as we competed in the ABA League and the 7DAYS EuroCup. There still remains a bitter aftertaste from our last showdown with each other. We are in an interesting position, as we have not stepped on the floor for more than two weeks, and there is always a thin line between rest and ‘rust’. We are looking forward to our return to the cout, and we have been training very well lately. We still have some time to prepare, and we have a match ahead of us in which we have to celebrate the victory.”
