Sean Armand is coming to Cedevita Olimpija

Before the start of the 2023/24 season, Cedevita Olimpija team has been strengthened in the shooting guard position with Sean Armand.  

Before the start of the 2023/24 competitive season, the 196-centimeter-tall Sean Armand is moving to Cedevita Olimpija. Last season, we were able to follow him in the jersey of Al Ittihad from Alexandria, Egypt, and Avtodor from Russia. For the latter, he appeared in six games of the regular season and three games of the Playoffs of the VTB League.

“We are happy to have brought Sean Armand into our club, as he has experience playing in several different leagues in Europe. He has proven to be a very good scorer in all of them, but he is a player who can play in all three outside playing positions, but he will certainly help us the most in the role of a scorer. Sean had a lot of bad luck the last season with injuries that kept him off the court for the majority of the season. He is motivated to show that he is worthy of his reputation. We hope that his abilities will help us achieve as many victories as possible in the forthcoming season,” said Cedevita Olimpija sports director Vlado Ilievski as Armand was added to the list of players.

“Sean is a versatile player who can help us at various playing positions. He is a physically strong player, and at the same time he has experience of playing in Europe. He also has a great desire to raise his game back to the level, at which it has been before the injuries that he has struggled with last season,” said the head coach of Cedevita Olimpija, Simone Pianigiani, upon signing the contract with Armand.

“I am very happy to sign with such a big club, that plays in the BKT EuroCup and AdmiralBet ABA League. The club finished the season in the semifinals against Partizan in the regional league, and in the EuroCup they did not have the best season. But with the new coach with a huge reputation, we hope that we can make some good things with the new season, that is coming up. Hopefully, we can pack the arena, and get the fans to the game, as Cedevita Olimpija has one of the best crowds in Europe. The fans that may not know me, will get the chance to meet me. I’m back, motivated to play, healthy, happy and ready to go,” said Sean Armand upon joining Cedevita Olimpija.

Among other things, Armand has experience playing in the BKT EuroCup, the Basketball Champions League and the Fiba Europe Cup. He used to play in the second-tier European club basketball competition in the 2018/19 season, when he wore the Zenit jersey, averaging 4.7 points and 2.2 assists in just over 13 minutes of play in six games.

He used to play for Gaziantep in the Basketball Champions League and recorded 12.7 points, 4.4 assists and 3.4 rebounds per game in 14 games. He played in the Fiba European Cup in two seasons, 2014/15 with Fraport Skyliners, and 2019/20 when he played for Bahçeşehir Koleji. During his career, Armand also played for Istanbul BB, Élan Chalon, Fuenlabrada and Socar Spor.

In the VTB League in the 2022/23 season, he averaged 5.8 points, 5.3 assists and 2.5 rebounds in the regular season, and in the Playoffs, he recorded 8.7 points, 6.0 assists and 2.0 rebounds per match.
