After the competitive break brought by the first cycle of qualifications for the 2023 World Cup, the players of Cedevita Olimpija are facing their first test in December. On Sunday at 12.00, the Ljubljana Dragons will host Zadar in the home Arena Stožice.

After exactly 14 days, the players of Cedevita Olimpija will return to the floor on Sunday at 12.00, and in front of the team of head coach Jurica Golemac is the showdown of the Round 10 of the regional league with Zadar. It will be possible to watch the match live on TV Slovenija 2 and Arena Sport 1.

Cedevita Olimpija will present itself to the home fans on Sunday in a renewed image. The new players, Alen Omić and Yogi Ferrell, have already joined their teammates, and the national team center Žiga Dimec left Ljubljana last week. Together with the rest of their teammates, they will face the Zadar team on Sunday, which took the last place in the standings with one victory in nine trials before the start of the 10th round. The only success was recorded by Zadar in the fifth round, when they defeated Borac on the home floor, followed by a series of four consecutive defeats in the regional league. The 2003 regional league champions are more successful in the Croatian national championship, where they have recorded eight wins in ten matches.

Zadar’s most efficient basketball player this regional season is Justin Carter, who averages 13.0 points, 5.0 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game.

The Ljubljana team will try to get back on the winning track in the regional competition after two weeks. In the ninth round, the Dragons lost 75:104 to Mega Mozzart. Prior to that, the Green-Orange Troop recorded three consecutive victories.

STATEMENTS AHEAD OF THE GAME:

Jurica Golemac, head coach of Cedevita Olimpija:
“We have the first match ahead of us in two weeks, after a not so good period for us. We made some changes. We trained well without the national team players and the new point guard. We are looking forward to a game against Zadar and can’t wait for Sunday’s match to show and prove that our image in the last two matches was not our reality. It is certainly not an easy game before us. Zadar is well led, they play basketball very fast and physically. We have to stand up to our opponents, play a strong defense if we want to run and score easy baskets to gain confidence, both in defense and in offense.”

Luka Rupnik, player of Cedevita Olimpija:
“Zadar is definitely a quality team. They do not have a good score in the regional league, so we are sure that our rivals will do everything to achieve new win. After the competition break, we can’t wait for it all to start again, and to show our better image in front of the home fans and keep two points at home.”
