Cedevita Olimpija has won its tenth Slovenian Super Cup trophy, second in a row. The squad led from the bench by head coach Jurica Golemac has beaten Krka in Tivoli Sports Hall with the score of 76:71.

The festival of Slovenian basketball has finished in the best possible way for Cedevita Olimpija. The squad has beaten Krka 76:71 and for the second time in a row claimed the Slovenian Super Cup throne. Zach Auguste has been named the MVP of the Super Cup with 23 points and 14 rebounds.

The Dragons have opened the game well and led with the score of 22:16. Second quarter was won by the Novo mesto squad, that have departed to the big break with a basket of advantage (34:36). In the second part of the game Ljubljana squad took the lead again, but could not pull away seriously. They have afterwards confirmed the win in the final quarter and with the score 78:71 won the Slovenian Super Cup.

The squad of Ljubljana will enter new ABA League season next Saturday, 21:00, when Cedevita Olimpija will host – Krka – in Stožice Arena.

QUOTES AFTER THE GAME:

Jurica Golemac, Cedevita Olimpija Head Coach:

“We have been aware that the game would not be an easy one. Krka entered the game relaxed and we could not develop our game as the game favourites. Our game in defense in the first half was not bad. The Novo mesto squad scored a couple of lucky points. Later in the game we have found five players that worked well on both ends of the court. For sure this is a good start. Next Saturday we will be facing Krka in the ABA League. Now it’s the right time to fix some things in practices and to step on court in a better mode.”

Zach Auguste, MVP of the Slovenian Super Cup:

“Winning in the Super Cup is very important both for the entire club. My congratulations go to Krka, that played a fantastic game. We have demonstrated that we can play tough and we did on defense what was necessary, so that we managed to get into positions to score points.”
