The Cedevita Olimpija senior squad has faced Krka in the Final of the Spar Cup on Friday in Kodeljevo Sports Hall with the score of 102:71 and won its 24th National Cup trophy in the club’s history an the fourth in a row.
Cedevita Olimpija senior team is celebrating fourth straight national cup troph in the Kodeljevo Sports Hall. The squad, led from the bench by head coach Zvezdan Mitrović has prevailed over Krka with the score of 102:71 in Kodeljevo. The teams have faced each other for the second season in a row and the sixth time in the mutual encounters for the domestic cup trophy the Dragons celebrated.
Cedevita Olimpija now has 24 national cup trophies in its trophy cupboard. For the fourth time in the history the club has claimed at least four consecutive cup trophies and the longest dates into the period between 2008 and2013, when the Dragons have won the cup six times. At the same time, this is the 12th consecutive trophgy for the club of Ljubljana under the umbrella of the Slovenian Basketball Federation. In the 2024/25 season, Cedevita Olimpija has already won the Super Cup trophy.
A national team windows break is now ahead of the squad, led from the bench by head coach Zvezdan Mitrović. Recall that the Dragons started the month of January unexpectedly in Belgrade, from where it unsuccessfully tried to travel to Panevežys- A part of the team afterwards returned to Ljubljana from Milan and a part from Vienna. A tough rhythm of 13 games in 37 days followed, during which the team travelled to Samokov, Panevežys, Dubai, Bourg-En-Bresse and Hamburg among other places and played the last four games on the Slovenian courts.
During this period, the Ljubljana side have managed to secure themselves a spot in the BKT EuroCup Playoffs, where they will be facing Besiktas of Istanbul on 5 March, 19:30 in Stožice Arena. GAME REPORT:
The fans in Kodeljevo Sports Hall have witnessed a tight contest until 17th minute of the game, when the green and orange squad has still been in front by 3 points (40:37), but that’s when Gregor Glas stepped ahead and scored 13 straight points for the Ljubljana side, that gave them an 11-point lead (53:42) by halftime. As it turned out later in the game, the Novo mesto side did not manage to turn the game completely upside-down and Cedevita Olimpija celebrated yet another trophy.
For th Dragons, Gregor Glas led the way in scoring with 21 points on his record, while DeVante Jones added 17.
