On Wednesday, the basketball players of Cedevita Olimpija won the first game of the national championship semifinal series against GGD Šenčur with a score of 86–79 and are now just one step away from advancing to the competition final.
Cedevita Olimpija continues its successful run in the national championship playoffs. On Wednesday, the Dragons defeated GGD Šenčur 86–79 in the Šenčur Sports Hall in the opening game of the semifinal series. They can already secure a place in the finals on Saturday, when the second game of the series will take place at 5:30 PM in Stožice. Admission to the Stožice Arena will be free for all fans.
GAME REPORT:
The home team managed to stay level with Cedevita Olimpija until the beginning of the second quarter, when the score was tied for the last time at 26–26. At that point, the visiting side went on a 10–2 run to build an eight-point lead (28–36) in the 14th minute of the game. The players coached by Zvezdan Mitrović maintained their advantage without major difficulties for the rest of the game and ultimately celebrated their first win in the semifinal series.
Cedevita Olimpija’s top scorer was Matthew Hurt with 25 points. Umoja Gibson added 19 points, DJ Stewart scored 15, Aleksej Nikolić had 11, and Miha Cerkvenik contributed 10 points.
