Cedevita Olimpija made the decisive step towards the Semi-finals of the national championship. The players of Ljubljana have beaten Krka 82:63 in the first game of the Quarterfinals in the Leon Štukelj Sports Hall. The second game is coming up on Monday, 18.00 in Tivoli Sports Hall.
On Friday, the players of Cedevita Olimpija have started with the Playoffs of the domestic championship as well. The squad, led from the bench by head coach Jurica Golemac is defending the championship trophy from the 2020/21 season in the first game of the Quarterfinals against Krka and in the Leon Štukelj Sports Hall, the visiting side won 82:63 and made a decisive step towards the Semi-finals of the domestic championship.
The Dragons can secure the Semi-final spot in the Nova KBM League on Monday, when they will be hosting Krka in the second game of the Quarterfinals. The entrance to the game will be free of charge.
After a slow start, the Ljubljana squad pushed up the tempo in the ending of the first quarter and by the end of the first half, they have grabbed themselves 10 points of advantage (45:35). After a 3-point shot scored by Yogi Ferrell, they were up by 15 points with 2 minutes to go in the third quarter. The Novo mesto squad threatened the Ljubljana side almost until the end, but they did not manage to turn the game completely upside-down, since the reigning champions have always found the answer to the attempt of a comeback by the hosts and celebrated a well-deserved win in the end.
Zoran Dragić was the top scorer of Cedevita Olimpija with 21 points and 8 rebounds on his record. Yogi Ferrell added 16 points and 7 assists and he was followed by Alen Omić, who scored 10 points.
