Win in Belgrade for the end of the Regular Season in the regional competition

Cedevita Olimpija squad was playing on the road in the previously postponed game of the 16th round of the regional competition and beat FMP Meridian in the game that did not have plenty of significance from the aspect of results with the score of 77:75.

Cedevita Olimpija ended with the playing in the Regular Season of the regional competition. The squad of Ljubljana played on the road in Belgrade against FMP Meridian in the previously postponed game. The Dragons got their revenge over the squad, that has beaten them in Stožice in the first half of the Regular Season.

Ahead of the Friday’s game in Belgrade, everyone was aware of the fact, that Cedevita Olimpija would finish the Regular Season in the fourth place in the regional competition and face Igokea m:tel in the preliminary round of the Playoffs. The teams will face in the best of three format and the winners of the series will secure themselves a spot in the Semi-finals of the regional competition, where Crvena zvezda mts and Partizan NIS are waiting for their opponents already. For the other Semi-final spot, Budućnost VOLI and FMP Meridian will face.

The first game of the Playoffs against Igokea m:tel is coming up on Saturday, 19:00 in the Tivoli Hall in Ljubljana. The knockout games of the regional competition are coming to Ljubljana for the first time after the 2010/11 season, when Union Olimpija finished the Regular Season in the second place and then lost to Partizan NIS in the Final of the Final Four Tournament in the Stožice Arena with the score of 77:74.

This time around, Cedevita Olimpija went up by 11 points by halftime, but FMP Meridian fought back in the second half and even entered the final minute of the clash with a 2-point advantage (72:70). With 40 second remaining on the clock, though, Edo Murić scored a three-pointer to put his team up by a point. Bryce Jones replied with a 2-point jumper on the other end with 22 seconds remaining. Zach Auguste put his team up again with a couple of successfully hit free-throws and afterwards Danilo Tasić tied to 75:75 with 6 seconds to go. It was Zach Auguste, however, that has been the hero of the game, as he has drawn a foul with 3 seconds left and scored both free throws to set the final score.

Zach Auguste has been the top scorer of the Dragons with 15 points and 6 rebounds on his record. Jaka Blažič added 13 points and 5 rebounds and Melvin Ejim 11 points and 6 rebounds.
