Cedevita Olimpija players have written down a defeat against Zadar in the tenth round of the ABA League season. The visiting side has earned itself a decisive advantage in the first half. In the second half, the Ljubljana team has tied the game, but were too short in the very finish. The score on the scoreboard was 74:73 in favour of the Croatian team after 40 minutes of the game.

Even though Zadar have been in front throughout the majority of the game, at times even with the double digits, Cedevita Olimpija managed to make it anybody’s game in the end and tied the game in the finish. As the teams entered the final minute, they have been tied at the score of 72:72. Justin Carter took Zadar in front with 2 successful free throw attempts (72:74) and on the other end Jacob Pullen took advantage of only one with 15 seconds remaining on the game clock. Zadar had the final ball possession, the hosts tried to interrupt it with a personal foul, but did not manage to do it and Zadar took the two points back home with them to Višnjik.

Zach Auguste was the most efficient in scoring for the hosts, as he scored 14 points, while Melvin Ejim scored one point less. Cedevita Olimpija faced Zadar in Stožice without Jackie Carmichael, that has already left Ljubljana and the two sides are negotiating the contract termination at the moment.

On Wednesday, 20:00 the Dragons will face Virtus Bologna in the sixth round of the 7DAYS EuroCup.

QUOTES AFTER THE GAME

Jurica Golemac, Cedevita Olimpija Head Coach:
»Congratulations to Zadar for a well-deserved win. Our competitors have been in front for the majority of the game and we lacked proper energy. In the first half and in the beginning of the third quarter, we haven’t found five players in a proper mood. Afterwards we have got good energy thanks to Alen Omić and Alen Hodžić, but it wasn’t enough. In a game, where you miss 11 free throws it’s difficult to count on a better score.«

Alen Omić, Cedevita Olimpija player:
»Every defeat hurts. We have tried to grab the win, to have calm heads on Wednesday, but such is live. I am sorry that we have lost in my first game. We wish to apologize to the fans, that came to Stožice. We will give our best on Wednesday to celebrate a new win
