On Tuesday, Cedevita Olimpija defeated Terme Olimia Podčetrtek in the fourth round of the Nova KBM League’s Championship Stage in the home Arena Stožice with the score 99:65 The Dragons thus broke a series of defeats and recorded second victory in the second part of the national championship.
On Tuesday, Slovenian basketball fans were able to follow the senior players of the Cedevita Olimpija team for the first time this season via an online broadcast on the floor of the Stožice beauty. This time, head coach Jurica Golemac decided not to give Kendrick Perry, Rion Brown, Ivan Marinković and Dan Duščak a chance to play, and their absence did not have much impact on the final result of the fourth round match of the Nova KBM League for the champion with Terme Olimie Podčetrtek. The scoreboard in Arena Stožice after 40 minutes of play showed 99:65 in favor of the home team, which thus registered its second victory in the second part of the national championship.
The Ljubljana team took control of the game soon after the tip-off and continued to be in charge for the whole 40 minutes of the match. Domination in the rebounding department, quick transition to fast-break offense, and 25 assists gained the home team a comfortable victory with a 34 points margin.
Jarrod Jones was the best scorer of the Jurica Golemac’s squad with 19 points and nine rebounds. He was followed by Jaka Blažič with 14 points, six rebounds, and five assists. Žiga Dimec and Mikael Hopkins (7 rebounds) both had 13. Luka Rupnik was the best passer with 11 assists, also adding 12 points to the total team’s telly.
Already on Thursday, the Dragons will once again, this time in a rejuvenated line-up, take to the floor, and in Šenčur near Kranj they will face Šenčur in the sixth round of the Champions League. An even more important showdown is ahead of the Ljubljana team on Saturday at 9 pm, when Zadar comes to Arena Stožice in the 22nd round of the ABA League.
