The Rejuvenated Cedevita Olimpija team surprised Šenčur and won their first game of the Round 1 of the Championship stage of the Nova KBM League in Arena Stožice.
Seven players from the club’s junior team joined Dan Dunščak, Rok Radović, and Luka Ščuka for the Round 1 matchup of the second stage in the Slovenian national championship. Fighting spirit brought the team in green and orange a 67:60 win over Šenčur.
The main focus of the game was to allow younger players to showcase themselves on the highest stage of Slovenian basketball. However, young Dragons snatched the opportunity and quickly gained the lead. A terrific performance on the court was observed by the first team members who watched from the stands, having earned their rest with Wednesday’s win over Krka. At halftime, the team lead by assistant coach Teo Čizmić controlled the game with a score 38:26. Šenčur managed to lower their deficit down to four points before the last quarter. In the crunch time, Cedevita Olimpija managed to hold onto the lead and celebrated a 67:60 victory.
Luka Ščuka lead the team in scoring with 24 points and 11 rebounds. Dan Duščak had 20 points with seven rebounds while Rok Radović filled the stat sheet with nine points, ten rebounds, and six assists. Robert Jurković scored six points, Nil Jovanović followed with five.
Dragons will be active again on Saturday when they will face FMP in the Round 19 of the ABA League. The game will be live on Arena Sport 1 at 19:00.
