The Cedevita Olimpija roster lost 83:79 to the home team Cosea JL Bourg on Tuesday in the French city of Bourg-en-Bresse in the BKT EuroCup quarterfinal, thus ending their participation in the European Cup for the 2025/26 season.
For the third time, the basketball players of Cedevita Olimpija failed to overcome the quarterfinal hurdle of the BKT EuroCup and secure a place in the semifinals of the competition. On Tuesday in Bourg-en-Bresse, the Slovenian champions were defeated by the home side Cosea JL Bourg, who beat the Ljubljana team 83:79. The team from Ljubljana thus exited the EuroCup playoffs in the quarterfinals for the second consecutive time, and overall for the third time since 2022. Nevertheless, by finishing among the top eight teams in the competition, they achieved their competitive goal set at the beginning of the season.
The team from the Slovenian capital will return to Ljubljana on Wednesday. The Dragons will first travel by bus to Geneva, followed by a short flight to Zurich, and then another flight to Ljubljana. On Sunday, a new challenge awaits them in the regional league—they will travel to Laktaši, where they will face Igokea m:tel at 17:00.
Despite the quarterfinal defeat, the 2025/26 season was historic for Cedevita Olimpija. The Ljubljana team recorded 12 wins in the regular season for the first time, and with their success in the round of 16, they achieved a total of 13 victories in the season. Additionally, in the final round of the regular season in Wrocław, they set a new EuroCup record for the number of assists collected.
