The senior team of Cedevita Olimpija basketball players lost 81–77 on the road to Igokea m:tel on Sunday in the fourth round of the second phase of the AdmiralBet ABA League.
Cedevita Olimpija’s senior squad suffered their third consecutive defeat on Sunday in Laktaši. In the third of four consecutive away games, the Dragons lost in the fourth round of the second phase of the AdmiralBet ABA League to Igokea m:tel, who defeated head coach Zvezdan Mitrović’s team for the third time in a row, this time by 81–77.
Cedevita Olimpija will continue their demanding schedule on Wednesday. Immediately after Sunday’s game, the team traveled to Belgrade, from where they will fly via Germany to Romania. There, at 19:00 on Wednesday, they face another regional league challenge—a postponed game from the first round of the second phase against their EuroCup rivals, Cluj. Cluj will then visit Ljubljana on Saturday, when the teams will meet again, this time at Arena Stožice. Tickets for the game are already available at vstopnice.olimpija.com.
GAME REPORT:
Cedevita Olimpija started Sunday’s matchup slightly better than the home team and held a one-point lead after the first quarter (17–18). In the second quarter, they completely took control on the court in Laktaši and built a double-digit advantage by halftime (34–44). It seemed that an easy second half awaited coach Zvezdan Mitrović’s players, but that was far from the case. The home team took the lead midway through the final quarter and pushed the game into a tense finish. With 90 seconds remaining, the teams were tied at 77–77, but from that point on the Dragons failed to score again, and Igokea m:tel completed the comeback to win the game.
Umoja Gibson was the top scorer this time with 16 points. DJ Stewart added 15 points, while Matthew Hurt scored 13.
