Cedevita Olimpija suffered a defeat on Sunday in Belgrade in the third round of the second phase of the AdmiralBet ABA League, losing to the reigning champions of the competition, Partizan Mozzart Bet (86–70).
On Sunday, the senior team of Cedevita Olimpija was defeated in Belgrade in the third round of the third phase of the AdmiralBet ABA League by EuroLeague side Partizan Mozzart Bet, who thus ended the Dragons’ winning streak. At the Belgrade Arena, the scoreboard showed 86–70 in favor of the home team, who therefore remain at the top of the TOP 8 phase standings.
Already on Sunday evening, the Cedevita Olimpija delegation will first travel from Belgrade to Geneva, and then later arrive by bus in the French city of Bourg-en-Bresse, where the Dragons will face Cosea JL Bourg on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. in the decisive EuroCup quarterfinal game. Only the winner of Tuesday’s matchup will advance to the competition’s final four.
GAME REPORT:
Cedevita Olimpija started the game better against the home team and led by two points after the first quarter (20–22), and by one point at halftime (39–40). In the 27th minute of the game, the Dragons were still ahead by six points (49–55), but Partizan Mozzart Bet then scored ten consecutive points over the next two minutes, which turned the momentum of the game and gave them a four-point lead (59–55). From that moment on until the end, Cedevita Olimpija never regained the lead, while the Belgrade team built a double-digit advantage in the final quarter and calmly closed out the game.
With 13 points, Matthew Hurt was Cedevita Olimpija’s top scorer this time. Aleksej Nikolić scored 11 points, while Jaka Blažič added 10.
