The Cedevita Olimpija senior team made an excellent start to the final part of the 2025/26 competitive season. On Sunday in Stožice, the players of head coach Zvezdan Mitrović defeated EuroLeague side Dubai Basketball 93–80, providing a great boost ahead of Wednesday’s EuroCup Round of 16 clash against Chemnitz.

Cedevita Olimpija’s senior team entered the final stretch of the 2025/26 season in outstanding fashion. Led by head coach Zvezdan Mitrović, the team beat EuroLeague side Dubai Basketball 93–80 in Stožice on Sunday, continuing their run of strong performances in front of the home fans. For the Ljubljana side, this marks their sixth consecutive victory recently. In the second part of the AdmiralBet ABA League season they currently have one win, and with victories from the first part of the competition they have a total of twelve.

The win is an excellent boost ahead of the extremely important EuroCup Round of 16 matchup on Wednesday, when Stožice will host the German club NINERS Chemnitz. The Ljubljana team will try to carry their good form from regional competition onto the European stage and secure a place in the quarterfinals in front of their home crowd. During halftime of the game, which took place on International Women’s Day, former players who helped shape the top of the Yugoslav women’s basketball championship standings while wearing the Ljubljana club’s jersey during the former Yugoslavia took to the court of Stožice Arena. On Sunday in Stožice we were joined by Smiljana Kocijančič, Maja Slovenc, Alenka Ogrin, Vida Zajec, Meta Palandačič, Romana Bassin, Barbara Kovač, Olga Markič, Majda Hribar, Jasmina Hočevar, Alenka Bevk Gomboši, Majda Hribar, Lenčka Lipar, Danica Guberinič, Mojca Mihelič, Ljuba Vincencija Lazarević, Metka Štoka Debevec, Nataša Lah, Silva Penko, Zora Malacko, Marjanca Bremec Homar, Daša Zupan, Marjana Jambrovič, Suzana Žmuc, Doroteja Logar, Gabrijela Brodnik and Sonja Nastran.


GAME REPORT:

Cedevita Olimpija controlled the court in the first half and went into halftime with a four-point lead (50–46). In the second half, Dubai Basketball fought back but never truly managed to take the lead. The decisive moment came with a 10–2 run between the 33rd and 36th minutes of the game, which turned Cedevita Olimpija’s one-point lead (75–74) into a nine-point advantage (85–76). Dubai Basketball was unable to recover before the end, and the home crowd celebrated the victory.

Umoja Gibson led the way in scoring for Cedevita Olimpija with 20 points on his record, while Aleksej Nikolić added 17.
