Cedevita Olimpija senior team has prevailed over FMP Soccerbet in the Round 16 of the AdmiralBet ABA League with the final score of 91:58 and completed the series of three consecutive home games with honour.
Cedevita Olimpija could not have imagined a better way to start the year 2025 in terms of results. The Dragons of Ljubljana have prevailed over FMP Soccerbet on Sunday in the Round 16 of the AdmiralBet ABA League with the final score of 91:58. This is the third win in a row for the Ljubljana side and the 12th in last 14 games. At the same time, the Dragons have got their revenge for the Round 1 defeat in Belgrade. This is a good starting point for Zvezdan Mitrović and his squad ahead of departure to the four consecutive road games and the Tuesday’s clash against Hapoel Jerusalem in Bulgaria, which could be decisive in the battle for the second place in Group B in the BKT EuroCup.
A journey, 10 days long, is ahead of the reigning Slovenian champions and they will play four road games in a row – three in BKT EuroCup, and all of them are against direct rivals for spots that lead into the Playoffs. On Tuesday, they will face Hapoel Jerusalem in Bulgarian town of Samokov, on Thursday, they will face Lietkabelis on the road in Panevežys, on Sunday, they will face Dubai Basketball in Dubai and next Wednesday they will face JL Bourg in France. The Dragons will return to the home court in Stožice Arena on 26 January, when Mornar-Barsko zlato arrives to Ljubljana.
GAME REPORT
FMP Soccerbet were the ones to start the game in a better fashion, leading by 5:0 in the opening 3 minutes, but Cedevita Olimpija fought back with a 12:1 run and turned the game completely upside-down already by the 7th minute of the game (12:6).
The key moments, however, arrived in the final 2 minutes of the first half, when Cedevita Olimpija made another big run, this time a 10:2 run, to pull away for good. They conferted their 33:28 lead into a 43:30 lead at the big break and as it turned out later in the game, FMP Soccerbet simply did not manage to fight their way back into the game anymore until the very end.
For Cedevita Olimpija, Rok Radović and Jaka Blažič led the way in scoring with 13 points contributed each.
