The players of Cedevita Olimpija suffered a defeat against Buducnost VOLI (60:91) in the fifth round of the first part of the 7DAYS EuroCup on the road in Podgorica.

Cedevita Olimpija suffered its third consecutive defeat in the 7DAYS EuroCup. In Morača, Podgorica, the Dragons had to concede victory to the home team Budućnost VOLI in the fifth round of the first part of the European Cup, which celebrated the victory with a result of 91:60, and for the second time this season defeated the Ljubljana players.

At the beginning of the match, the teams had an equal fight, and the first hit Buducnost, which gained a 10-point advantage in the second quarter with a series of 12: 2 (39:29). Ljubljana went on the hunt for the home team, but they resisted the protégés of head coach Jurica Golemac, first escaped to 11 points at the beginning of the third quarter, and a little more than three minutes before the end of the quarter the home team’s advantage was 15 points (55:40 ), and when DJ Seeley scored a new three-pointer for Buducnost shortly before the end of the quarter, the latter was already away at 61:42. The advantage of the home basketball players soon increased to 20 points, and at the end it was 31 points (91:60).

In the green-orange jersey, the top scorer was Melvin Ejim with 14 points, followed by Edo Murić with 10 points.

Cedevita Olimpija will face Mega Mozzart in Belgrade on Sunday at 12.00 before the start of the break brought by the national team campaigns. The broadcast of the match will be available on TV Slovenia 2 and Arena Sport 1.

STATEMENTS AFTER THE GAME:

Jurica Golemac, head coach of Cedevita Olimpija:
“Congratulations to Buducnost for a well-deserved victory. We were weak, we lacked energy and intensity. Unfortunately, some throws didn’t go through the hoop, then we fell in confidence. The ball didn’t circle in attack, and we weren’t aggressive enough in defense. Our rivals opened up in the attack, and in the end they deservedly won by a large margin. There is no time to cry, we need to analyze and prepare for the next match.”

Edo Murić, player of Cedevita Olimpija:
“We started well and were close to Buducnost in the first half. After unnecessary mistakes, we were eight points behind at half time. After the main break, we were simply too soft, and our rivals hit a lot of throws for three points. They played and beat us by a high margin. I don’t think the latter is realistic in the end, we had a bad day and they had a very good one. We will meet a few more times this season and prove that this difference is not a realistic picture. We need to focus as we have a new match ahead of us on Sunday. After this slap, it is necessary to pick up and show a better game in Belgrade.”
