Ahead of the Cedevita Olimpija is Round 10 of the 7DAYS EuroCup. The morning after the win in Round 10 of the ABA League against Cibona on Sunday, the Dragons were already on their way to Patras, where they will face Promitheas on Wednesday at 18.30 local time.
On Wednesday at 17.30, Slovenian time, Cedevita Olimpija will start the last game of the group stage of the 7DAYS EuroCup. With the spot among the best 16 teams in the competition already guaranteed, the Dragons can face Promitheas Patras without any pressure, but still have a motive to put on a great performance, due to the fact, that they can still finish the group stage on the first place in Group D.
Ljubljana’s squad travelled to Patras without Roko Leni Ukić and Rion Brown. An interesting fact: Among the twelve players, who are in Greece, there are nine of them with a Slovenian passport.
STATEMENTS AHEAD OF THE GAME:
Jurica Golemac, head coach of Cedevita Olimpija:
“Certainly, this last group stage match is also of great importance. After a busy week and journey, we didn’t come to Patras just to play the game. It depends on us and our victory in which position we will finish the group stage. We want to finish the first part with a victory, but the path to it will not be easy. Promitheas is a great team, it also showed that in Ljubljana, and now we know each other even better. Daily inspiration and defense will decide the game.”
Alen Hodžić, player of Cedevita Olimpija:
“The match with Promitheas is just another challenge on our path in the 7DAYS EuroCup, but we have to win it if we want to be first or second in our group. This would make our work in the second part of the competition a little easier, so to say. We will prove that we are deservedly among the top 16 teams in the European Cup, and then prove ourselves further.”
