On Wednesday at 20.30, a new spectacle in the 7DAYS EuroCup is promised in the Stožice Arena, as Bourg from the French city of Bresse will play in the third round of the second part in Ljubljana.

The Cedevita Olimpija team will continue its fights among the best 16 teams of the 7DAYS EuroCup on Wednesday at 8.30 pm. The French Bourg is coming to Ljubljana, which is still without a victory after two matches played in the second part of the competition, and the team of head coach Jurica Golemec will chase their second victory, for the fourth time in a row. The match, which will once again take place behind closed doors of the cone beauty, will be broadcast live on Šport TV 1, and the studio part will start at 20.00.

Certainly, the historic first victory among the top 16 teams of the 7DAYS EuroCup, recorded under its own name by Cedevita Olimpija, gave additional motivation to the Ljubljana basketball players before the continuation of the season. Tuesday’s success over Budućnost VOLI was upgraded with Thursday’s celebration over the Podgorica team in the ABA League, and in the regional competition they crowned everything with Sunday’s success in Split. However, the people of Ljubljana will have to leave all these celebrations in the past and focus entirely on the Wednesday’s game with French Bourg.

In the opening two rounds of the second part of the 7DAYS EuroCup, JL Bourg en Bresse suffered two defeats. In the first round, Budućnost VOLI defeated the French in Podgorica with 108: 80, and last week Bourg hosted Virtus Segafredo Bologna in France, and lost with 87:99. Bourga’s most efficient basketball player in the European Cup is Danilo Andjušić, who averages 17.8 points, 3.2 assists and 2.5 rebounds per game. Bourge’s jersey is also worn by old acquaintances of Ljubljana’s parquets, Alen Omić and Zack Wright. Unfortunately, Omić will not be able to play in the match in Ljubljana and later in France, as he recently suffered an injury, namely a partial rupture of the posterior cruciate ligament in his right knee.

Ivan Marinković has already joined Cedevita Olimpija’s training after his illness, and we will see if head coach Golemac decides to place him in the Twelve Dragons, which will step on the Stožice floor on Wednesday at 20.30.

STATEMENTS AHEAD OF THE GAME:

Jurica Golemac, head coach of Cedevita Olimpija:
“JL Bourg is a great team that beat Partizan NIS twice in the first part of the season. The team has been playing great basketball for two years, they also have a coach who has been with the team throughout the period, and the players are mostly the same as last season. The French have a lot of Balkan flair, and the coach is a local. It is a very smart team that is very offensively oriented. Their tall players are dangerous shooters. Certainly Wednesday’s game will not be easy. The French are chasing their last chance to keep the chance to break through among the top eight teams of the 7DAYS EuroCup. For us, the match is important, but at the same time dangerous, as Bourg had a week to prepare, as it did not play in the French national championship. I expect the Bourg players to play with a lot of energy and desire, and that the team will be tactically superbly prepared.”

Jarrod Jones, player of Cedevita Olimpija:
“JL Bourg has a good, solid team, and they play in a tough French league, which is a fast paced league. This game is going to be a good challenge and a test for us. I’m sure, that our coach is going to prepare us well, and that he will do everything to prepare us for a different style of play, that we’re used to. So far, we’ve done a great job at adjusting our play to the opponents. As long as we play together, the way that we know how, we have a chance to be successful.”
