Cedevita Olimpija is up for another challenging task on Wednesday at 20.00, as the Dragons will look to host Germani Brescia in Round 8 of the 7DAYS EuroCup regular season in Stožice Arena.
Ljubljana’s squad seek to continue with the winning streak, as they will be looking to get to four straight victories on Wednesday against Brescia. After notching the first win in the new 7DAYS EuroCup season past Tuesday against ratiopharm Ulm, Jurica Golemac’s selection beat Partizan Mozzart Bet on Sunday in Round 10 of the AdmiralBet ABA League in front of the home fans.
Cedevita Olimpija will try to build off its recent success and a record-breaking performance to take another step in its climb up the standings when it hosts Germani Brescia in the Slovenian capital on Wednesday. Cedevita Olimpija started the season with six consecutive losses, but ended that streak last week with a 30-point beating against ratiopharm Ulm, a game in which it set club records in scoring (108) and three-pointers made (17).
Zoran Dragic and Karlo Matkovic, who recovered from respective injuries, gave the team a much-needed boost and the two players have combined to average 26.5 points over the last two games with Matkovic also posting 8.0 rebounds per game.
Brescia, on the other hand, has lost its last four games and has failed to score more than 70 points in three of those contests. Brescia averages 78.6 points this season, the fourth fewest in the competition, while Cedevita Olimpija has scored 89 or more points in each of the last three games.
Jurica Golemac, head coach of Cedevita Olimpija:
“There is not much time to prepare for the 7DAYS EuroCup match on Wednesday. Brescia is a very dangerous team. Our rivals refreshed themselves and brought in two new players, among them is Slovenian national team player Aleksej Nikolić. The team has a lot of offensive talent. The match will certainly not be easy. We need to show a top defensive game and pay attention to their snipers, including Della Valle, who is one of Italy’s greatest talents. I invite all fans to join us in Stožice, as we will need their help if we want to achieve another victory.”
Edo Murić, captain of Cedevita Olimpija:
“We are sure to have another tough match ahead of us. We know that a win in the Wednesday’s game is absolutely necessary. We are in a very good rhythm, we are also training well. The team is healthy. We will do our best to keep the victory at home, and at the same time, I invite all fans to join us again in as large a number as possible.”
