Cedevita Olimpija will travel to Serbia on Saturday morning, and this time the path will lead them to Čačak, where the selected head coach Jurica Golemac will face Borac in the second round of the regional competition on Sunday at 19.00.

The Cedevita Olimpija basketball players will face the second round of the regional league on Sunday, and the Ljubljana Dragons will face Borac at 19.00 in the Serbian city of Čačak. The selected players of the head coach Jurica Golemac have one victory after one round, and the team from Čačak had to concede the victory to Igokea (89:91) in the first game of the regional season after a close final.

The duel between Igokea and Borac in Laktaši was decided by James Arthur Robinson III in the very end of the match, and the three-point throw, which would have brought Borac victory, was then missed by Hunter Hale. The latter, together with Nemanja Todorović, was also the best scorer of his team with 17 points. Former Dragon, Ivan Marinković, scored 15 points in 27 minutes of play.

Last Saturday in the first round of the competition, Cedevita Olimpija reliably defeated Krka from Novo mesto with 88:56. With 17 points, Marcus Keene was the top scorer of the green-and-oranges, and he also awarded six assists. Zach Auguste stopped at 15 points and five rebounds, and Jacob Pullen collected four rebounds at 12 points.

STATEMENTS AHEAD OF THE GAME:

Jurica Golemac, head coach of Cedevita Olimpija:
“The second round of the regional league is ahead of us. Borac is a great team with a great coach. The game of the team from Čačak has a tail and a head, all the players are educated and talented, and everyone wants to show off and prove themselves. If we want to count on winning on the hot field, which Čačak certainly is, we will have to play the match to the best of our ability, and show the best game in defense so far. We’re in a good rhythm as we train very well, and that doesn’t mean anything if we don’t throw ourselves for every ball on Sunday and walk off the field after the game with bloody knees.”

Marcus Keene, player of Cedevita Olimpija:
“We know that Borac plays at high pace, a lot of up and down basketball. We just have to lock in defensively, and if we can get stops, we’ll be fine.”
