Cedevita Olimpija will open the second part of the 7DAYS EuroCup in a clash with Virtus Segafredo Bologna on Wednesday at 18.30 in Bologna.

Cedevita Olimpija will continue its fights in the 7DAYS EuroCup on Wednesday at 18.30, and for the first time in history, Ljubljana basketball fans will follow the matches of the best 16 teams of the European Cup. Due to the poor epidemiological picture, all fans of the game will only be able to watch the game on small screens on Šport TV, but a new chapter in the history of Cedevita Olimpija will be written on Wednesday.

At 18.30, the Dragons in Bologna will face off against the first favorites to win the European Cup title, Virtus Segafredo Bologna, in the first round of the second part of the 7DAYS EuroCup.

The Italian team is the only one to conclude the first part of the competition with ten wins in ten matches. The Ljubljana players celebrated seven victories in ten matches. The team of head coach Jurica Golemac will face the black and whites, led from the bench by Saša Đorđević, and Virtus Bologna is the team, that breaks down all obstacles in the 2020/21 season. Virtus is a bit more restrained in the Italian national championship, where it has ‘only’ nine victories after 14 games. On Saturday, the team from Bologna hosted Trento and recorded a victory with 92:85. With 17 points and eight rebounds, black-and-white basketball player Kyle Weems was the most effective. He was followed by the Most Valuable Player of the first part of the 7DAYS EuroCup, Miloš Teodosić, who added 11 assists to 14 points.

The Cedevita Olimpija players will definitely want to correct the impression from Sunday’s clash with Zadar on Wednesday. In the Krešimir Ćosić Hall, the Dragons dominated most of the match, and in the end they celebrated a close victory with 80:78, which, in spite of everything, is a good trip before the demanding game in Bologna.

STATEMENTS AHEAD OF THE GAME:

Jurica Golemac, head coach of Cedevita Olimpija:
“Virtus Segafredo Bologna is definitely the main favorite to win the 7DAYS EuroCup title. Before the end of the previous calendar year, they strengthened with Marco Belinelli. Most probably the Italians are the best squad among all the teams competing in the competition. The team consists of the stars, who have played in both the NBA and the Euroleague, they have also won numerous titles in various international competitions. Virtus is the absolute favorite for the final victory in the 7DAYS EuroCup. For us, it is certainly a real reward for our work in the first part of the competition to be offered the opportunity to play against the team from Bologna. I am sorry that the fans do not have the opportunity to follow such a team in Ljubljana yet.”

Jaka Blažič, captain of Cedevita Olimpija:
“Anyone who follows basketball a little knows what kind of team Virtus Segafredo Bologna is. Certainly, judging by the names, this is the most famous team in the 7DAYS EuroCup. The main players are Miloš Teodosić and Marco Belinelli, but we must not forget all the other players. Virtus has a lot of talent and a lot of weapons in offense. In Bologna, our defensive game will be put to the test.”
