Geben: We will give our best on the court for our fans!

Martinas Geben is moving to Ljubljana’s Cedevita Olimpija after two seasons spent in Manresa. It was the right opportunity, to talk with Martinas ahead of the summer.

After spending four seasons at the University of Notre Dame, Martinas Geben moved to Žalgiris in 2018 and was immediately loaned to Juventus, where he excelled in the Lithuanian national championship. After returning to Žalgiris and spending two seasons there, he also tasted the German and Spanish national championships, where he averaged 8.4 points, 4.1 rebounds and 0.6 blocks per game last season.

“I can do a little bit of everything on the court – I can provide a wide range of skills on the court from playing near the basket to shooting from the outside. I think my greatest strength is my basketball IQ on the court.”

When talking about Cedevita Olimpija, Martinas also highlighted the rich tradition of the Ljubljana club.

“I know that the club has deep tradition, but honestly don’t know too much after that. I look forward to coming to Ljubljana and learning about Cedevita Olimpija’s rich history.”

Even this time, when mentioning Slovenia, we couldn’t pass by the Slovenian basketball superstar, Luka Dončić. Martinas can’t wait to move to the Slovenian capital with his family.

“Other than Slovenia being the home of Luka Dončić, I don’t know too much. Everybody I’ve spoken to about Slovenia and Ljubljana has said wonderful things about the country, which was really attractive for my family. I’m excited to arrive and experience all of it!”

After spending two seasons in the Euroleague with Žalgiris, Geben is returning to competitions under the wings of the Euroleague Basketball organization, only this time he will play in the BKT EuroCup with Cedevita Olimpija. He will also taste playing in the regional AdmiralBet ABA League for the first time.

“I expect high level competition from both! I’m hoping to be a part of a rebuilding chapter of Cedevita Olimpija after last season’s performance in EuroCup. I expect our team to fight and compete with all the best clubs and reach for the highest results possible.”

And a very direct message for the fans:

“Please come and support us! There will be great and fun moments, but there will also be difficult ones – come cheer us on and we will give our best on the court for all of you.”
