The official opening of the 2022/23 competition season is ahead of Cedevita Olimpija! The current Slovenian national and cup champions will face the Helios Suns from Domžale on Friday at 20.15 in Dvorana Poden for the first title of the season and try to add a third consecutive Slovenian Super Cup title to their showcases.

Cedevita Olimpija basketball players will officially open the new 2022/23 competitive season on Friday in Škofja Loka. Before the Ljubljana Dragons is the Slovenian Supercup match against the Domžale Helios Suns, and head coach Jurica Golemac’s squad will be chasing their first title this season and their third consecutive Supercup.

Fans will be able to watch the live TV broadcast of the match at Sportklub and on the YouTube channel of the Basketball Federation of Slovenia.

The Ljubljana team played five preparatory matches this summer, winning the last three against Cibona, Šenčur and Igokei m:tel. In the new season, the players of Ljubljana will try to improve the results from last season, in which they reached the quarterfinals of the 7DAYS EuroCup, the semi-finals of the regional league and won all three domestic titles.

The two teams will compete for one of the Slovenian laurels for the third time in this calendar year. In February, Cedevita Olimpija and Helios Suns played against each other in the final of the Spar Cup, and with a score of 99:80, the squad of Ljubljana was better, and the title of the most valuable player of the final tournament went to Edo Murić. The two teams met again in the final set of the national championship, where Cedevita Olimpija won her 19th title in independent Slovenia after three consecutive victories, and Alen Omić became the most valuable player of the finals.
