The Cedevita Olimpija basketball players will conclude their stay in Turkey in less than 48 hours on Wednesday at 18.00 Slovenian time with a second clash with Bursaspor. This time, the selected players of head coach Jurica Golemac will also be official guests in the match of the seventh round of the 7DAYS EuroCup, and with the new success, the Dragons would take another decisive step towards ranking among the top 16 teams in the European Cup.
On the wings of an outstanding performance by Jaka Blažič, who scored as many as 33 points in Monday’s first match of the season, and contributions from Kendrick Perry (15), Jarrod Jones (13) and Mikael Hopkins (10), Cedevita Olimpija settled ‘debts’ from the second round of the European Cup with honor. After 40 minutes, the scoreboard in Bursa showed 104: 88 in favor of Ljubljana, the home team in this specific match, and Golemac’s team thus won its third European victory of the season.
On Wednesday, all eyes of Ljubljana fans will be focused on Bursa again, and the Dragons would be close to the desired place in the second part of the competition with a possible victory, the third in a row in the 7DAYS EuroCup.
STATEMENTS AHEAD OF THE GAME:
Jurica Golemac, head coach of Cedevita Olimpija:
“We don’t have much time to correct our mistakes. We will make an analysis of the first mutual match, we will also have one practice, and we will try to eliminate the mistakes that are the basic part of defensive tasks. Above all, the defense caused us quite a few problems. We need to reduce the number of unnecessary mistakes from game to game.”
Kendrick Perry, player of Cedevita Olimpija:
“We’re going to have to bring a lot more energy on Wednesday, than we did on the previous game. They’re undermanned, but they’re still a very strong team, which is very capable. We’re going to have to be locked in defensively.”
