Green Five
As a club with a strong sense of social responsibility, we must be leaders in sustainability. This involves continuous learning and development in all areas.
If not now, when? If not us, who?
We are all responsible for a “green” society. Based on three of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals – Affordable and Clean Energy, Responsible Consumption and Production, and Climate Action – we have developed a project aimed at ensuring a better tomorrow.
The goal of the Cedevita Olimpija Green Five project is to raise awareness of the importance of sustainability within the club, among fans, sponsors, partners, and the wider public.
At Cedevita Olimpija, we are committed to various sustainability efforts based on five key pillars. Each pillar represents a member of the “Green Five,” forming the foundation of Cedevita Olimpija’s sustainability approach.
1 – Waste and Recycling
We understand that waste separation is an important and responsible task, which is why our club is a master at it. Recycling allows for the reuse of raw materials, reducing the exploitation of natural resources, and contributing to energy conservation and the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions. We encourage all fans to separate their waste at games and in their daily lives.
2 – Sustainable Materials
Who says sustainability has to be boring? We use sustainable and more biodegradable materials that help save the planet. We are committed to using sustainable and biodegradable materials, which have a lower environmental impact compared to traditional materials. That’s why we use paper and cotton bags as well as reusable bottles.
3 – Conservation
We at Zmaji (Dragons) are committed to conserving water, electricity, plastic, and other resources because we want to reduce negative environmental impacts and contribute to sustainable development. Conserving water and electricity reduces the consumption of valuable natural resources and greenhouse gas emissions, which contribute to climate change. Turn off lights and electronics when not in use, and close the tap when you don’t need water… Small steps toward a big goal.
4 – Reducing Emissions
We are committed to reducing emissions because we want to contribute to a healthy and stable environment for future generations. Adopting sustainable practices and using cleaner energy sources is essential to achieving this goal. We encourage fans to use public transportation and micromobility options to get to games.
5 – Digitalization
By transitioning to digital processes, Cedevita Olimpija aims to optimize operations, increase efficiency, and reduce the consumption of natural resources. Digitalization enables the move toward less paper-intensive workflows, helping reduce deforestation and saving water used in paper production. We encourage fans, sponsors, partners, and the wider public to embrace digital solutions (bills, tickets, contracts, etc.).
Partnership and Invitation to Participate
We are happy to receive new suggestions and ideas, and we welcome everyone to join our project. We are pleased that partners such as the City of Ljubljana, Nomago Bikes, and Surovina are already part of the project.
