Cedevita Olimpija’s senior team will begin its European playoff campaign in the BKT EuroCup Round of 16, entering the knockout stage as the third-placed team in Group A. In the decisive game for a spot in the quarterfinals, the Ljubljana side will face German team NINERS Chemnitz, with the Slovenian champions holding home-court advantage.
Following the win over Slask in Wrocław, the Dragons family hoped for a favorable outcome from Klaipėda, where a Neptunas victory over Bahçeşehir would have secured second place in the group. However, the Turkish side prevailed 91:86 and, thanks to a better head-to-head record against the Ljubljana team, secured second place. The Dragons therefore concluded the regular season with 12 wins in 18 games, finishing third and earning a new European challenge – a Round of 16 knockout clash in Stožice.
NINERS Chemnitz, the sixth-placed team from Group B, will travel to Ljubljana on Tuesday, March 10, or Wednesday, March 11, with Stožice once again set to host an evening where advancement will be decided by the energy of the stands and the heart of the Dragons family.
The Ljubljana side enters the playoffs in excellent form – in their final regular season game in Wrocław, they impressed with 114 points scored (tying the club record) and 37 assists, which set a new EuroCup record.
