Defeat of the weakened Dragons in the 7DAYS EuroCup season opener against Frutti Extra Bursaspor

In the opening game of the 7DAYS EuroCup season, Cedevita Olimpija suffered a defeat against Frutti Extra Bursaspor, the same opponent, that has edged the Dragons out in the Quarter-finals of the last European season.

At their EuroCup season opener, Cedevita Olimpija have suffered a defeat against Frutti Extra Bursaspor in a game, where Turkish side have been in front throughout the majority of the game and eventually prevailed after a thrilling finish. In the end, the Turkish side celebrated a 81:73 win.

For Cedevita Olimpija Yogi Ferrell was atop of the list of scorers with 12 points, while Amar Alibegović had 11.

The next game is coming up for Cedevita Olimpija on Sunday, when they will be hosting Crvena zvezda mts at home in Stožice Arena in the derby of the round in the regional competition.

“A well-deserved victory for Frutti Extra Bursaspor team, I congratulate them on their success. We were not good and proper. We had problems with tall players. For Alen Omić, we didn’t know until the last moment whether he would be able to play due to a stomach virus. In the shortened rotation of players, we saw that we weren’t aggressive and physically strong enough. We didn’t play as a team. We pushed too much, had a lot of individual plays, but at the same time we wanted to get back into the game with individual solutions. This cost us the victory in the end.”

Edo Murić, captain of KK Cedevita Olimpija:
“For sure, we can regret this defeat. We were very close until the very end. We have to look forward. We didn’t play the best, maybe it was even our worst performance in the matches this season. Already on Sunday, we have a match against Crvena zvezda mts, so we have to learn from our mistakes. We are a new team, so we have to find the right recipe to win.”

Amar Alibegović, player of KK Cedevita Olimpija:
“The first match of the new 7DAYS EuroCup season certainly did not end as we would have liked. We have to learn from our mistakes, and we have enough time for that. We have a very good team. We make mistakes, but we need to get to know each other better . At the moment, we still lack mutual chemistry. We are waiting for the analysis and we will do everything to be better in the next match.”
