Defeat in Stožice, Finals tied at 1:1

In the second game of the Nova KBM League Finals, Cedevita Olimpija have suffered a home defeat by Helios Suns with the final score of 82:81. The Finals are now tied at 1:1 in victories.

Cedevita Olimpija still need to win two more games in the Nova KBM League Finals in order to defend their championship trophy, that they have won in the previous two seasons. They have been defeated in Game 2 on home court in Stožice Arena with the 82:81 score afrer a dramatic ending.

It has been a close game in the first half, when the Dragons have created themselves only 1 point advantage after the first quarter (19:18) and a 4-point advantage by the big break (42:38). It has been between 25th and 27th minute of the game, that the Dragons have pulled away with a 7:2 run, that gave them a 62:53 lead. However, the hosts did manage to bounce back in the final quarter and with a bit more than 6 minutes left in the game, they managed to tie it to 68:68.

And the game remained close all until the final moments afterwards. The teams entered the final minute of the game with a score tied to 79:79. Alen Omić put Cedevita Olimpija up 81:79 with a couple of free throws with 37 seconds left. Niko Bačvić replied with a three-pointer for the 81:82 lead by Helios Suns with 18 seconds to go. Cedevita Olimpija had one more attempt to secure the win, but they did not manage to conver their final ball possession into a bucket, so the score remained unchanged until the end.

For Cedevita Olimpija, Marko Jeremić led the way in scoring with 25 points on his record, while Edo Murić added 14.

The next game is coming up for the Dragons on Tuesday, when they will face Partizan Mozzart Bet on the road in Belgrade in the decisive third game of the AdmiralBet ABA League Semi-finals, which is scheduled to begin on 19:00. The winner will travel to the Finals, where they will be facing the reigning champions Crvena zvezda Meridianbet. The next game in the domestic championship is up for the Dragons on Thursday, when they will face Helios Suns in the Game 3 of the Nova KBM League Finals. The game is set to start at 20.30.
