The latest addition to Cedevita Olimpija’s senior team, David Škara, is currently spending time with his family, as his 2024/25 competitive season ended in mid-June when he played in the Croatian national championship final with Split. Upon signing his contract, we couldn’t get him in front of Cedevita Olimpija TV cameras, but we did have a short conversation with David, in which he shared his plans for the upcoming season and addressed Cedevita Olimpija fans.
After a season with Split, where he experienced playing in the regional league for the first time, won the Croatian Cup, became the MVP of the cup’s final tournament, and reached the national championship final, David Škara is moving to Ljubljana, where he will also compete in the EuroCup for Cedevita Olimpija.
“Cedevita Olimpija attracted me with its high level of play and excellent club organization. Additionally, competing in the EuroCup is a new challenge for me.”
We always ask every newcomer in the Dragons’ jersey what they already know about our club and Ljubljana.
“I’ve heard a lot of good things about Cedevita Olimpija and can’t wait to join the team. I’ve only visited Ljubljana for games so far, but I’m looking forward to getting to know and explore it better now.”
Following their quarterfinal appearance in the EuroCup and ABA League, as well as a triple Slovenian crown, the Ljubljana club is ambitiously entering the new 2025/26 competitive season. What can David contribute to the team’s success?
“I hope to integrate into the team as quickly as possible and contribute to achieving our goals with my play.”
David has only spent one season in the regional league, so fans may not know him well yet. How would he describe his game, and what can they expect from him?
“I see myself as a versatile player who understands the game well and can play on the wing positions. Fans can expect heart, tenacity in every game, and a team spirit.”
With hot summer months ahead, we were curious about what David will be doing before the start of the preparation period.
“I just finished the season, so I’m currently taking time to rest and spend with family. After the break, physical preparation follows so I can join the Cedevita Olimpija team in the best possible shape.”
