Cedevita Olimpija’s senior team will be strengthened in the 2025/26 season at the high positions by 30-year-old, 205 cm tall David Škara, who is arriving in Ljubljana from Split.
Ahead of the 2025/26 competitive season, Cedevita Olimpija has bolstered its roster at the power forward position with 30-year-old, 205 cm tall David Škara. He began his career as a teenager in Zadar, studied in the United States, and gained experience in Spain and France before spending the 2024/25 season with Split.
“Our senior team will be strengthened by David Škara in the upcoming season. With his work ethic and experience, he perfectly complements our vision for the team in the next season. We are confident that his experience and energy will significantly contribute to our goals. We look forward to working with David, who I believe is eager to further prove himself on the regional and international stage,” said Cedevita Olimpija’s sporting director, Chechu Mulero, upon signing the contract with Škara.
“David Škara is a rising player who caught our attention this season in Split’s jersey. He is a versatile fighter capable of playing both power forward and center positions. With his honest and relentless approach on the court, he has earned our interest. We hope that his game will bring toughness to our defense, stability to our offense, and reliability in rebounding,” said the Dragons’ head coach, Zvezdan Mitrović, regarding Škara’s addition to the roster for the new season.
“I am thrilled and extremely grateful for the opportunity to play for Cedevita Olimpija. I can’t wait to join the team and play my first games,” said David Škara upon signing the contract with the Ljubljana club.
David Škara began his basketball journey in Zadar, where he played for the Dalmatian club’s youth teams before moving to the United States. There, he represented two university teams, the Valparaiso Beacons (Indiana) and the Clemson Tigers (South Carolina). Before the 2019/20 season, he returned to Europe, first playing for the Spanish team Levitec Huesca, and then, until his move to Split in 2024, competing in France.
In the French second division, he played for Denain, Nancy, and Champagne Basket, while in the 2021/22 season, he competed in the first division with ESSM Le Portel. Before the 2024/25 season, he joined Split, where he played 29 games in the AdmiralBet ABA League, averaging 12.5 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 1.7 assists per game. Škara was the 14th-best rebounder in the regional league in the past season and the second-highest-rated individual for Split, behind Shannon Shorter.
In the 2024/25 season, we also saw David in action at Tivoli Hall, where Split faced Cedevita Olimpija in the fourth round of the AdmiralBet ABA League regular season. Škara finished the game with 20 points, four rebounds, and a valuation index of 17.
