It’s playoff time in the regional league. Cedevita Olimpija will start the playoffs with the Preliminary Round, as the Dragons will face Igokea m:tel to try to enter the semifinals. In Game 1 of the Preliminary Round, Cedevita Olimpija will try to get one step closer to the semifinals in Tivoli Sports Hall on Saturday at 19.00.

In the opening game of the Playoffs Preliminary Round, Cedevita Olimpija will be hosting Igokea m:tel at home in their Tivoli Sports Hall in Game 1.

The Regular Season is over and it’s do or die in each game now, almost literally. Cedevita Olimpija have finished the Regular Season in the fourth spot with a record of 18:8, while Igokea m:tel finished fifth with a record of 15:11.

This season, the two sides have already faced each other twice, with the Dragons of Ljubljana being more successful on both occasions.

STATEMENTS AHEAD OF THE GAME:

Jurica Golemac, head coach of Cedevita Olimpija:
“The regional league playoffs begin. In the first round, an unfavorable and quality competitor awaits us. Igokea has been playing great team basketball for several years. Coach Bajić, together with the other members of the coaching staff, is doing an excellent job. Our rivals play very smart and team basketball, with many substitutions in the game in defense. If we want to record a victory, we will have to be very focused, make as few mistakes as possible and play great in defense, because it is difficult to stop our rivals due to many passes and reading the game. Especially in the game in defense, we will have to be much better than in our last game.”

Jaka Blažič, captain of Cedevita Olimpija:
“A new match, new challenges and something that all players should look forward to. We are fighting for the semifinals of the regional league. Just as we took a step forward in the 7DAYS EuroCup this season, we want to do the same in the regional competition. We have already competed with Igokea twice this season and we have twice won reliably. We know where our competitors have the greatest dangers. We will try to stick to a similar principle of the game as in the two games of the regular season. Igokea is a quality team with a lot of talent, they also had enough time to prepare for the playoffs, so they certainly did not come to Ljubljana to wave the white flag. I invite all the fans to join us again at Tivoli.”
