In the new 2023/24 competition season of the BKT EuroCup, Cedevita Olimpija’s players will compete in Group A. In the new season of the European Cup, the team of Ljubljana will face a renewed competition system and new challenging tests in the second highest quality European basketball competition.

Cedevita Olimpija got rivals in the new BKT EuroCup competition season. In the new season of the European Cup, the Dragons of Ljubljana will play in Group A, where they will face the teams Hapoel Tel Aviv, Joventut Badalona, Paris Basketball, Umana Reyer, Wolves Vilnius, Besiktas, Veolia Towers Hamburg, Prometey and London Lions.

The team of Ljubljana have already faced Joventut, Umana Reyer and Promete in the regular part of the 2022/23 competition season, in which the Dragons failed to make it to the finals of the competition. Joventut and Prometey made it all the way to the semifinals of the competition last season, while Hapoel Tel Aviv and Paris Basketball played in the quarterfinals last season. Veolia Towers Hamburg, London Lions and Umana Reyer also made it to the playoffs from Group A in the 2022/23 season.

“Ahead of us is a new season in the European Cup, in which we will compete under the name Cedevita Olimpija for the fifth season in a row. Our group is attractive and strong, we will face many good clubs, and the new competition system certainly brings with it an extremely interesting season. It is ungrateful to talk about competitive goals at the moment as all teams are still putting together their squads for the new season, but we certainly want to improve on last season’s results. but that the boys will always do their best on the floor,” said Cedevita Olimpija’s director, Davor Užbinec, after the draw in Barcelona.

The BKT EuroCup will be held in a modified format in the 2023/24 season. The twenty teams will continue to be divided into two groups, and six teams from each group will qualify for the playoffs, instead of eight, as it has been until now. The best teams from the groups from the regular season will go directly to the quarterfinals. The teams ranked between third and sixth will compete against each other in the round of 16 for the remaining places in the quarter-finals. While the Round of 16 and Quarter-Finals matches will once again be played on a one-elimination system, the Semi-Finals and the Final will be played on a best-of-three system.
