The basketball players of Cedevita Olimpija will start their hunt for the 21st cup laurels in independent Slovenia on Saturday at 20.30 in the Kodeljevo Sports Hall. In the semi-final match of the Spar Cup, they will face Novo mesto’s Krka to enter the finals.

The final tournament of the Spar Cup starts on Saturday in the Kodeljevo Sports Hall. Cedevita Olimpija will start its performances at 20.30, when it will face Krka from Novo mesto in the semi-final match. Šentjur and Rogaška will compete in the second semi-final match at 18.00. All matches can be watched live on Sportklub 1 and online on the official YouTube channel of the Basketball Association of Slovenia.

The Ljubljana and Novo mesto clubs have met five times this season, and each time the victory was celebrated by the club from Stožice. The teams last competed on April 24, when it was 99:72 for Cedevita Olimpija. In the Dragons’ jersey, as many as six players scored double-digit points, the most, 17, given by Rion Brown. At Krka, which then played without Rok Stipčević and Luka Lapornik, Adin Vrabac scored 17 points.

Cedevita Olimpija will be chasing its 21st cup title at Kodeljevo. The Dragons won the last one in 2017 in Domžale, when they defeated Krka with 86:81. For the last three seasons, the cup title has been ‘settled’ in Koper, and Koper Primorska defeated Cedevita Olimpija in the final last year, also at Kodeljevo, with 93:84.

“Krka is our eternal rival and great rival. Novo mesto plays excellently and disciplined, and at the same time they are very well managed. The game is led by two exceptional game organizers who control what happens on the floor. We have quality, we are also favorites, but we have to prove it on the court. We have to take the semi-final match seriously and do our best to get to the final, which is our goal.”

“We are looking forward to the semi-final match of the Spar Cup with Krka. It’s always nice to play when the showdown has a competitive charge. The trophy is a laurel for which you have to do your best. I believe that we are all aware of this at Cedevita Olimpija. We have a few days to prepare well for Novo mesto’s Krka. It is important to tackle the final tournament step by step, and it is clear to everyone that the main goal is to win the cup title.”
