Cedevita Olimpija will enter the end of the 2023/24 season reinforced by Alen Omić. The latter last wore the Ljubljana jersey last season, and spent the first half of the current season in China and France. Born in Tuzla, the 216-centimeter-tall big man wore the jersey of the Ljubljana club for the first time between 2012 and 2015, during which time he won the Slovenian Super Cup title twice and the Slovenian Cup champion once with the Dragons. In the jersey of Cedevita Olimpija, which he joined in November 2021, Omić won two titles of the Slovenian National Champions, two titles of the Slovenian Cup Winners and one title of the Slovenian Super Cup Winners.

During his career, Alen Omić wore the jerseys of many famous clubs, including Gran Canaria, Anadolu Efes, Unicaja Malaga, Hapoel Jerusalem, Crvena zvezda Meridianbet, Budućnost VOLI, Olimpia Milan, Joventut Badalona, and before his first return to Ljubljana he was part of JL Bourg. In Alen’s showcase, we can also find the EuroCup Championship trophy from 2017 and the Serbian national champion title from 2018.

In the elite Euroleague, Omić played in 67 games, averaging 5.4 points and 3.4 rebounds per game. In his career, Omić showed even better performances in the European Cup matches, where he played 131 games, and we find him at the top of the eternal rankings of the valorization index, two-point shots made, total number of rebounds and total number of offensive and defensive rebounds.

After leaving Ljubljana, he started the 2023/24 season with the Chinese team Guangxi Rhinos, and continued with Paris Metropolitans 92. In France, he averaged 15.6 points, 10.1 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game. With an average valuation of 21.4, he was the most efficient player of the French National Championship.

In the 2022/23 competition season, Alen Omić set many personal milestones in his career, while at the same time he played in 31 matches in the AdmiralBet ABA League and 17 tests in the 7DAYS EuroCup. He averaged 10.8 points, 8.9 rebounds and 1.3 assists in the European arena, and 11.3 points, 8.7 rebounds and 1.9 assists in the regional league. In this season, he was also selected as the most valuable player of the final tournament of the Spar Cup in Maribor. In the 2021/22 season, Omić played in 22 regional league matches and 15 7DAYS EuroCup matches in the Zmajev jersey. He averaged 8.8 points, 7.3 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game in the European Cup, and 7.9 points, 6.4 rebounds and 1.9 assists per game in the regional league. With outstanding performances in the finals of the national championship with the Helios Suns, where he averaged 13.0 points and 14.0 rebounds per game in three games, he also earned the title of the most valuable player of the final series.

“In the Cedevita Olimpija jersey, we will be able to accompany Alen Omić again. After the departure of Karel Matković, we were looking for someone under both rings who can come to our aid in a short time and who at the same time knows the environment. We found a solution in Alen, who will be able to help us in a big help, not only in the end of the season in the regional league, but also in the Slovenian cup competition and in the national championship. Alen has a lot of experience, but we believe that he will always fight for every ball in the Cedevita Olimpija jersey, and in this way help the team to new successes,” said Cedevita Olimpija’s sports director, Vlado Ilievski, upon signing the contract with Alen Omić.

“Even though I’m coming back to Cedevita Olimpija, I feel like I never really left. I have a family, a wife and a child who are with me off the court, and I have another family, the Dragon family, which Cedevita Olimpija represents. I can’t wait to join my teammates in practices and matches, and I believe that we will do our best to achieve the goals set before the start of the season in domestic competitions and in the AdmiralBet ABA League,” Alen Omić said upon returning to the Dragons’ jersey.
