At the position of Point Guard, Cedevita Olimpija is stronger with Slovenian national team representative and EuroBasket 2017 Champion, Aleksej Nikolić!
The 29-year-old Point Guard, Slovenian national team member and European champion from 2017, Aleksej Nikolić, joined the Cedevita Olimpija team in the summer of 2024. Nikolić (191 cm, 1995) has so far played for Postojna, Zlatorog Laško, Spars Sarajevo, Bamberg, Baunach Young Pikes, Partizan, Treviso, Gravelines, Burgos, Sassari, Brescia, Gran Canaria and in the previous season the French Élan Chalon.

We are glad, that we can introduce Aleksej Nikolić as our newest addition to the roster. Aleksej is an important member of the Slovenian national team, he has great quality, he had a great season in France, but most importantly, his characther, is something, that we want to see in our team in the upcoming season,” said Sports Director Chechu Mulero.
“Aleksej Nikolić is a player I have known for quite some time. He is a local player, a member of the Slovenian national team, a great guy, which is the most important thing. He improves his game every season, and he had a brilliant season in France. He will help us in creation of our game. He has a good and solid character, and with his quality he will be a very important member of our team,” said Zvezdan Mitrović, the Head Coach of Cedevita Olimpija.
“The feelings upon signing the contract with Cedevita Olimpija are excellent. I am looking forward to returning to Slovenia after more than a decade of playing abroad, and at the same time I will be playing for the Slovenian club at senior level for the first time. I can’t wait for the start of the season for sure,” said Aleksej Nikolić upon signing the contract.
The 29-year-old from Postojna played with Bamberg in the Euroleague between 2015 and 2018, where he played in 51 games, ten of which he started in the starting five of his team. He averaged 2.4 points, 1.4 assists and 0.7 rebounds per game in just over 10 minutes he spent on the floor. In the EuroCup, he played a total of 27 games with Partizan and Brescia, averaging 7.4 points, 3.1 assists and 1.9 rebounds per faceoff in just over 20 minutes of play.
Nikolić also competed with Burgos and Sassari in the Basketball Champions League, playing in a total of nine games. He averaged 6.2 points and 3.5 assists for Burgos, and 7.3 points and 3.0 assists per game for Sassari.
In the 2023/24 competitive season, he played in 31 games for Chalon, averaging 12.8 points, 5.5 assists and 3.0 rebounds per game. In his career, Nikolić won the title of Italian Cup champion from 2023 and German Cup champion from 2017.
So far, we have been able to follow him in the jersey of the national team at two world championships (2014, 2023) and two European championships (2017, 2022) and at the 2021 Olympic Games in Tokyo. He was part of the national team in all the qualifiers for major competitions in recent years. He played in eight games at the 2014 World Cup and averaged 8.3 points, 3.1 assists and 2.5 rebounds per game. He is part of the Slovenian national team from the age category up to the age of 16, and he achieved his greatest success with the Slovenian men’s national team in 2017, when together with the rest of the members of the Golden National Team, he won the title of European champion.
